No Sew Pumpkin tulle dress

Materials
Orange and green tulle
Wide elastic band,
Black felt for jack-o'-lantern face
Green & orange satin Ribbon
Scissors, needle & white thread to sew the elastic band; measuring tape
You can use maple leaves or colourful felt for decoration (optional)

Take the measurement of the dress wearer chest and cut about 3″- 4″ shorter than intended, sew ends together. The elastic will expand while filling

Cut the tulle to pieces; I did cut 50”x  19” ; for long dress suitable for 3T to 4T toddler. Start folding the pieces into half till you  reach 3” wide
Cut the tulle into stripes 3”wide
Unfold the stripes; I have used 4 stripes a time; the more layers you use the fluffier the dress will be.
Use the back of a small chair will help you a lot in knotting the tulle; Fold your tulle stripes into half; put behind the elastic band

Make a loop and bring the ends up, insert into the loop and pull the edges down
Pull & tighten the strip as showed in the picture; the more you pull the fluffier the tulle will be
Repeat the steps till you have all your tulle tied to the elastic band; You can keep your dress plain orange and decorate it with maple leaves or felt; I did add green tulle short stripes 5”wide; these stripes can be added in between the orange from the beginning or later for more volume
Start rolling ribbons around the knots on the elastic band in the middle of the dress front; Cut enough ribbon to tie it around the baby’s neck.
Cut jack-o'-lantern eyes, nose and mouth on a black felt; and glue it or stitch it; I have used felt with adhesive side.
Spread the tulle strips at the face area as wide as possible to prevent face from being plaited between the folds.
Done ☺

LEGO SUPERHEROES HALLOWEEN COSTUME – HULK

Halloween is just around the corner and my son wants to be a LEGOMAN in his trick & treating journey…
OK why not.. But let’s take it a bit further …what about being a SUPERHERO LEGOMAN ☺

LEGO characters are always a hit … and mixing it with superheroes theme will make it even more special.
Doing this costume will take some time; but it will worth every minute
Let’s start but listing the materials we will need…

Cardboard for the LEGOMAN body; you can use any carton box with an adequate size (I did use a display board from the craft shop and I was lucky enough to find it green color)
Acrylic Colours
Colorful paper
Scrap paper & a pencil
Scissors and sharp box cutter
Felt
Measuring tape, one of your kids T-shirts as a guide
Hot glue gun & duct tape
Foam board
This costume fits 5-6 years old kid; so adjust the measurements according to your kid's size.

Steps:

Using your kid’s T-shirt as a guide, mark and cut the front and the back of the LEGOMAN body using the box cutter; the body base should be wider than the top and the total length reaching only the knees so the kid will still move freely;

For 5 -6 years old kid the measurements were 13”x20”x21” as illustrated in the picture

After having the front and back, we should cut the shoulder‘s top were the head will be placed; in using a carton box you won’t need this step because the box has a side while the display board hasn’t .

The full size were 15”x 10”and I did use a plate to mark the head opening then cut it with the sharp cutter.

Cut the sides of the body measuring 10”x21” as shown in the picture.

Start to assemble the body pieces together using duct tape, then start to glue foam rectangle pieces by the corners to keep its shape.

Cut two circles for arms on the sides around half an inch under the shoulder line.

Having the body ready, we will start with the head; first cut five square shape cardboards.  Cover one of them with black felt to be the top of the head.

Draw a HULK face draft on scrap paper and use it as a guide to open the “eyes” openings on the face before gluing it.

Start assembling the head pieces similar to the body, using hot glue and small foam pieces.

Using black felt (better with adhesive side) start to design the hair on the sides and the back of the head.

Using foam cut a cylinder shape and cover it with felt to be the LEGOMAN head top and glue it in the middle of the head top.

Using the acrylic colors start painting HULK face features.

For the body; start drawing muscles and '6 packs' on the front side.

Using colored paper ( purple or dark blue) start to design the shorts of the HULK; cut the edges with a zigzag pattern.  With the black color mark the short edges to give it more of 3d effect.

Start designing the LEGO logo to be placed on the back of the costume; use scrap paper to do a draft of the logo; then cut the letters and glue it in the middle of the HULK's back.

Paint a black frame around the square shape logo.

Wait till colours are dry…and our SUPERHERO LEGOMAN is READY ☺
